Leo J. AbingLeo J. Abing, age 74, of Lancaster, died on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at his residence in Lancaster. He was born on February 19, 1935, in Potosi, the son of Charles and Martha (Schmitz) Abing. On September 11, 1956, he was united in marriage to Bernadette M. Loeffelholz at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dickeyville. Together they farmed in Grant County and in 1965, moved to their family farm in South Lancaster Township. He was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church where he served as an usher. Leo was also a member of the Catholic Knights and served as vice president. He was also employed with American Breeder Service, and Murray’s Dairy Farm and Refrigeration. Leo and Bernadette owned and operated the Maple Harris Guest House in Lancaster for fifteen years. Leo enjoyed scouting back roads and fence line shopping. He was always ready to lend his time to anyone in need. Survivors include his wife, Bernadette Abing, Lancaster; his children: Denis Abing, Lancaster; Gerard (Roxzanne) Abing, Platteville; Julie (Ted) Sanger, Lancaster; Mark Abing, Germany; Trina (Johnie) Snyder, Lancaster; Stuart (Liz) Abing, Lancaster; Todd (Theresa) Abing, Richland Center; Vera (Robert Lackore) Abing, Madison; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters: Marie Herrig, Dubuque, IA; Irene (Clarence) Seng, Potosi; Bernice Kaiser, Kieler; Louella Brant, Kieler; Betty (James) Jungk, Dubuque, IA; Irwin (Katie) Abing, Potosi; Doris (Bernard) Hentrich, Hazel Green; Margaret (Joseph) Hentrich, Belmont; Richard (Paulette) Abing, Potosi; a sister-in-law, Florentine (Dan) Abing-Joyce, Lancaster. Funeral services were held on Monday, December 28, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Seipp and Father John Norder officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Funeral services were held on Florentine Abing-JoyceFlorentine M. Abing-Joyce, age 76, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in rural Lancaster. She was born on December 19, 1933, in Dickeyville, the daughter of Adolph and Marie (Schollmeyer) Wallenhorst. On October 10, 1951, Florentine was united in marriage to Cyril Abing at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Tennyson. Together they farmed in Grant County. In 1965, they moved to the family farm south of Lancaster and they raised ten children. She enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, crocheting and vacationing with family and friends. On September 9, 1989, Florentine married her soul mate, Dan Joyce, at St. Clement Catholic Church, Lancaster. They continued to enjoy life to the fullest with fishing, card playing, playing Scrabble and many more vacations. Helen R. held on Ila Dubel-AdamsIla D. Adams, age 87, of Lancaster, died on Sunday, January 15, 2012, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. She was born on January 2, 1925, in Wisconsin, the daughter of Tom and Nellie (Cooley) Bass. Ila attended country school. In 1941, Ila was united in marriage to Walter Dubel in Cassville. After their marriage, the couple farmed near Mt. Hope and Lancaster. After their retirement, the couple moved to Lancaster, where Ila was employed with Finney Implement. The couple later moved to Bagley and Ila worked for Bass Newsstand. Walter preceded Ila in death in 1985. In 1987, Ila was united in marriage to Clarence Adams in Bagley. After their marriage, the couple moved to Lancaster. Clarence preceded Ila in death. Ila enjoyed crafts, sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking and entertaining family and friends. She also enjoyed going out to eat and going for drives. Ila’s family and faith were very important to her. Survivors include her son, Ron (Jules) Dubel, Lancaster; four grandchildren: Julianne, Justine, Tim and Dan Dubel; three great-grandchildren: Brittany, Donnie and Casie Dubel; one brother, Clinton (Norma) Bass, Beloit; other relatives and many friends. In addition to her husbands, Ila was preceded in death by a son, Jim and her brothers and sister: Bob, Jim and Tom Bass and Betty Hardwood.

Nancy J. AdamsNancy J. Adams, age 48, of Potosi, died on Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Lancaster, following a courageous seven year battle with heart disease. She was born on January 22, 1963, the daughter of Richard and Marlene (Fritz) Keene. Nancy graduated from Potosi High School in 1981. On November 5, 1983, she was united in marriage to Patrick J. Adams at Davies Memorial United Church of Christ in Potosi. Nancy was employed at Federal Land Bank, Union Bank and Trust, Foremost Farms, and most recently, as a secretary in the Physical Therapy Department at Grant Regional Health Center. She was a member of Davies Memorial United Church of Christ. Nancy dearly loved her family and keeping up with their activities. She enjoyed being outdoors on the farm, and the company of her two cats, Chippy and Mason. Nancy will always be remembered for her infectious laughter and smile. He attended school at St. Clement Catholic School in Lancaster . On June 2, 1959, Thomas was united in marriage to Ruth VanNatta at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Platteville. Thomas was employed with John Deere for many years, retiring in 1990. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and playing cards. Adrian, age 50, of Cassville, died on Monday, June 7, 2010, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born January 9, 1960, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Earl “Buck” and Neoma (Turner) Retallick. Brenda graduated from Cassville High School in 1978. On June 24, 1978, she was united in marriage to Mark Adrian, Sr., at Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. She drove bus for Warco and Stratton Busses for a total of thirteen years. Brenda was then employed at Swiss Colony from 1991 through the present. She coached cheerleading and enjoyed camping, photography and spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and also loved NASCAR. Survivors include her husband of thirty-two years, Mark Adrian, Sr., Cassville; her children: Matthew (Nicole) Adrian, Platteville; Mark Adrian, Jr., Cassville; Amanda (Danyl) Curtis, Platteville; five grandchildren: Hayden, Allison, Abigail, Timothy, Jr., and River; her siblings, Sherlyn (Bill) Kleinow, Cindy (Jeff) Hessling; Ben (special friend, Sue Granberg) Retallick; mother-in-law, Minnie “Darlene” (Ames) Adrian; and many nieces and nephews. Greg John Adrian, age 24,
of Glen Haven died Sunday, November 22, 2009 as a result of
injuries sustained in a car accident. He was born October
8, 1985 in Greg worked on the family farm with his dad and brother. Farming was his life, but he also enjoyed hunting, shooting pool, playing cards, and spending time with his beloved dog, Mojo. He
is survived by his parents, Stephen and Lou Ann Adrian of Glen
Haven; brother, Adam (Angie) and niece, Erin Adrian of Glen
Haven; sister Emily (Daniel) Lilla of Trempealeau, Wisconsin;
grandparents, Walter and Dorothy Edge of Platteville, Dolores
and Monroe Gardner of Glen Haven, and Minnie (Darlene) Adrian of
Glen Haven; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Greg was preceded in death by his grandpas, Paul A. Blum and
Duane A. Adrian.

25, 2009 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marcella AdrianMarcella M. Adrian, age 94, of Cassville, WI, died Friday, January 13, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque. Marcella was born on October 12, 1917, in Cassville, a daughter of Oscar & Katherine (Schmeltz) Shaben. She married Vincent Adrian on November 28, 1940, at St. Charles Church in Cassville. Marcella enjoyed playing cards, reading, sewing, gardening, fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marcella is survived by her son, Mark (Ruth) Adrian; a daughter, Marcia Wiest; seven grandchildren, Gina (Andy) Kirschbaum, Melissa (Jeff) Allen, Chad Adrian, Amy (Tim) Adams, Stacy (Don) Packard, Todd (Nichole) Wiest, and Brent Wiest; twelve great-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent; her parents; and two brothers, Clifford and Durward “Bud” Shaben. Special thanks to Marcella’s granddaughter, Amy, who took exceptional care of her. Tom was born on July 15, 1932, in Cassville, a son of Joseph & Clara (Brinkmann) Adrian. Tom graduated from Cassville High School in 1950. He married Florence Meyers on September 17, 1960, in Cassville. Tom worked for 39 years at Dairyland Power, until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, and once served as a volunteer firefighter for the Cassville Fire Department. He enjoyed gardening at the farm, fishing, hunting, deer rides, and spending time with his grandchildren. Tom is survived by his three children, Sue (Jed) Sperry of Chippewa Falls, WI, Greg (Sandy) of Blanchardville, WI, and Jill (Brad) Werlein of Middleton, WI; four grandchildren, Sam, Jake, Riley, and Reese; a brother, Richard of Monona, WI; a sister, Mary (Gene) Metcalfe of Cassville; and several nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence in 1991; and his parents. Adrian, age 70, of Cassville, died on Friday, March 19, 2010, at the Lancaster Care Center in Lancaster. He was born on April 24, 1939, in Lancaster, the son of Ed and Marie (Esser) Adrian. Victor graduated from Cassville High School in 1957. He then enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country until his honorable discharge in 1959. On October 3, 1964, he was united in marriage to Nancy Kartman at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. Three children were born to this union. She preceded him in death in 1983. Victor was employed at John Deere and with Wisconsin Power and Light for over thirty years. He married Patsy Krohn, who preceded him in death. He later married Betty Nelson of Cassville. Victor enjoyed hunting, camping, and spending time at his son’s shop. Survivors include his children: Brad (Kelly Zimmerman) Adrian, Mt. Vernon, SD; Jenni (Scott) Neuman, Windsor; Jon (Amy Okey) Adrian, Cassville; two grandchildren: Sam and Lilly Neuman; a sister, Donna (Russ) Metcalfe, Cassville; his wife, Betty Nelson, Cassville; Patsy’s children: Jeff (Amy) Krohn, Prairie du Chien; Tammy (Kyle) Hudson, Missy (John) Okey, and Candy (Matt Walker) Krohn, all of Cassville. Sheila gave her time to personal care giving in the Prairie du Chien area and at G&G Living in Guttenberg. When not working she could be found enjoying her favorite past time - gardening. Nellie M. AltomNellie M. Altom, age 103, of Fennimore, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society. She was born August 7, 1906, the daughter of Harry and Emma (Sandifer) Titus in Smithboro, IL. Nellie graduated from Mulberry Grove High School and attended Eastern Illinois Teacher’s College and taught elementary grades for 10 years at Walshville, Myatt, Elm Point, McCord and Smithboro Schools. On May 31, 1930, Nellie married Charles O. Altom in Greenville, IL. She assisted him in a photographic business with hand color tinting of black and white pictures. She was a member of the First Christian Church and served many years in the Sunday School, Missions and Home Departments. She was a devoted caretaker for her parents and husband until his death in 1974. Nellie moved to Lancaster, WI in 1979 to be near her family. She volunteered at the Grant County Thrift Shop and was active in the Calvary Community Church Missions group. Nellie is survived by her daughter, Linda Lyons, Fennimore; two grandsons: Dr. Matthew (Robin) Lyons, Odon, IN and Dr. Justin Lyons (fiancé, Samantha Lawrentz), Ashland, OH; two great-granddaughters: Sarah and Abigail Lyons. On June 4, 1957, Delores was united in marriage to Udell B. Ames at the Evangelical and Reformed Church in Lancaster. She babysat many of the neighborhood children before starting to work at Advance Transformer. She was later employed at the Lancaster Care Center. Delores was a member of St. Andrew and St. Thomas Catholic Church and was an avid Cubs and Packer fan. She enjoyed her walks in the park, shopping, gambling, and spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband, Udell Ames; one daughter, Linda (Bill) Kress; three sons: Greg (Ginger) Ames, Todd (special friend, Sandy Leibfried) Ames, and Gary (Tammy) Ames; nine grandchildren: Holly (friend, Tim Brockling) Kress, Mitch (Melissa) Kress, Shane (fiancé, Val Steffens) Ames, Cody (Brook) Ames, Haley, Tanner, Malorie, Makila, and Abby Ames; three great-grandchildren: Addy, Sophia, and Logan Kress; her mother, Edith Russell; two sisters: Arlene (Norbert) Wieland and Bonnie (Denny) Stluka; many nieces and nephews. Delores was preceded in death by a brother, Larry, her father, Clinton, her father and mother-in-law, Bert and Gertrude Ames, and brother-in-law, Gernert Ames;. Funeral services were Friday, February 11, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial was in Van Buren Cemetery, Potosi Township. Family and friends called on Thursday, February 10, 2011, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church and on Friday, February 11, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. 6, 2009 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (1755 Delhi St.) in
Dubuque with the Pastor Arnold Flater officiating. Burial

Lois A. AndrewLois A. Andrew, age 92, of Platteville, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Manor Care Health Services in Platteville. She was born on July 6, 1917, the daughter of Clarence and Lily (Foote) Chandler in Potosi , WI . Lois was united in marriage to Orrin Andrew in May of 1937 in Galena , IL . He preceded her in death on March 7, 1984. Together they farmed outside of Platteville and she also worked as a nurse’s aide at Grey’s Nursing Home in Platteville for eight years. Lois was an active member of Mt. Zion United Church of Christ in Cornelia. Lois is survived by her son, Orlin (Virginia) Andrew, Platteville; a grandson, Jeff Andrew, Platteville; three great-grandchildren: Jeffrey Andrew (fiancé, Carey Jacobs), Ashley Andrew (fiancée, Aaron Howard) and Rachael Andrew; one great-great-granddaughter, Lily Rose Andrew; a sister, Tellma (Chuck) Pulliam, Caledonia, IL; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orrin; five sisters: Vonda Johnsen, Kay Resch, Edna Albers, Eva Rogers and Mildred Koning. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Mt. Zion United Church of Christ in Cornelia with Reverend Sue Strickler officiating. Burial was held in the church cemetery. Family and friends were welcome from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 2 at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home in Platteville and from 9:00 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church.
