Douglas J. "Dobber" Reuter

November 30, 1942 — April 2, 2018

Douglas J. “Dobber” Reuter, age 75, of Potosi, was reunited with his heavenly family on Monday, April 2, 2018. He was born on November 30, 1942 at home in Tennyson, Wisconsin, the son of Lester and Mildred (Pitzen) Reuter. He married the love of his life, Landa Leeser, on October 8, 1963 at St. Thomas Church in Potosi. Doug worked at John Deere Dubuque Works for 30 years and retired in 1994. Upon retirement he was able to pursue his passions – he was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved spending time with family and friends. Most people remember Dobber from his many years of pitching fast pitch softball. He was inducted into the Kiwanis Fast Pitch Hall of Fame in 1982, and the Southwest Wisconsin Fast Pitch Hall of Fame in 2008. You could find him almost every morning with his brothers and friends, drinking coffee and solving the world’s problems at McCartney Corners. He also cherished his time with his grand kids and great-grandkids, teaching them his pestering/prankster ways.

Doug is survived by his wife, Landa L. Reuter; two sons: Wayde (Lori) Reuter and Thad (Anna) Reuter; nine grandchildren: Mark (Nakila), Mitch, Nick, Rachel, Blake, Brei, Ashley, Katie, and Austin; three great-grandchildren: Lila, Deacon, and Kaleb; his brothers and sisters: Mercille Floerke, Myron (Patricia) Reuter, Jerome (Zita) Reuter, Clifford (Patricia) Reuter, Lawrence Reuter, Jarda (Ambrose) Timmerman, Rita Reuter, Karen (Francis) Dailey, Gregory (Cynthia) Reuter, Jane (Randy) Rietmann, and Marjorie (Thomas) Sutton; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Rhoni, who he missed dearly, and his angel granddaughter, Skylar – they are united together now; brothers: Leonard, Vincent, Norbert (Mary), and Richard Reuter; a sister, Ida Mae (Clarence) Fure; and a brother-in-law, Ernie Floerke.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 6, 2018 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Potosi with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, Potosi. Family and friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Potosi, where a parish prayer service will be held at 2:45 p.m., and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Douglas J. “Dobber” Reuter Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Potosi is entrusted with his services.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Schoppe and his staff; the exceptional nurses and the staff of Finley Hospital; the Potosi and Dickeyville Rescue squad; and the many family members and friends for their amazing care, compassion, and support over the last year and a half.
