Obituary for Bernadette M. Thole

Bernadette M. Thole, age 78, of Lancaster passed away Saturday, March 21, 2020, at Grant Regional Health Center. She was born June 19, 1941, the daughter of Joseph and Mamie (Udelhoven) Dressler. Bernadette attended St. Clement Catholic School and graduated from Lancaster High School in 1959. On November 28, 1959, she was united into marriage to Monroe F. Thole at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. Together they farmed in Cassville, Stitzer, and in 1966 purchased a farm in North Lancaster Township. They raised their family and operated a dairy, hog and beef farm. Bernadette later became a CNA and worked at various nursing homes. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, gardening, and attended St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. Bernadette dearly loved her family, friends and keeping up with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her children: Marty, MaryAnn (Kirk) Kemper-Dresen, Marsha (Dick) Donaldson, Diane, Kelli, and Vicki Thole; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her siblings: Alma Morris, Bernie (Teresa) Dressler, Rose (Herb) Koppen, Clement (Betty) Dressler, Sr., Claire (Calvin) Churchill, and James Dressler; her brother-in-law: Floyd Churchill; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Bernadette was preceded in death by her siblings: Sr. Anna Marie, Virginia (Bill) Brockway , Agnes (Edward) Simpson, Theresa (Carl) Martin, Catherine (John) Oberfoell, Mary Churchill, and Joan (David) Edge; her sister-in-law, Jean Dressler; a brother-in-law, Peter Morris.
In keeping with Bernadette's wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral ceremony. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family.
Bernadette's family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of Grant Regional Health Center, Orchard Manor Nursing Home, and her friends at Sunrise Valley Apartments. We greatly appreciate all you have done for the wonderful care provided and creating great memories. We value your kindness and compassion.
