LANCASTER – Bernard L. “Bernie” Jerrett, age 68, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 27, 1954, in Boscobel, the son of Fredrick and Marcella (Kipper) Jerrett. Bernie attended country school and Lancaster schools. He worked for LaVern Kipper in carpentry, the County Farm as well as several other area farms. Bernie worked most recently at Skyline, retiring in 2005 due to health reasons. He was an avid outdoorsman. Bernie loved farming, hunting, fishing, trapping, tractor pulls, demoing, gardening, camping, hunting for mushrooms, ginseng, wild asparagus, and watercress. He dearly loved spending time with family and had a heart of gold. Bernie was an amazing father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He touched many hearts and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his children: Eric (Autumn Gander) Jerrett; Angie (Curt Lange) Hoffman; three grandchildren: Braxton Schmit, Westley and Rafe Hoffman; his siblings: Dean (Kathy), Leonard (Kimberly), Rosemary Jerrett, Fredrick, Jr., Rose Marie “Marie” (Dean) Lyons, Laura (Mark) Reynolds, Robert (Kerry), and Edward Jerrett; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Bernie was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer and a grandchild, Echo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Vernon officiating. Burial will be in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is entrusted with his care.
