Betty J. Clauer

September 22, 1929 — July 4, 2019

Betty June Clauer, age 89, of Lancaster, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2019, at Grant Regional Health Center, Lancaster. She was born on September 22, 1929, in Waterloo Township, the daughter of Henry and Edna (Cardy) Haas. Betty grew up on the family farm. She graduated from Cassville High School in 1947 and married Bill, the love of her life in the same year. Betty brought her first-born home on her 19th birthday. She taught her children right from wrong and made them behave and have respect for others. Betty was a great homemaker. Her home was spotless until the end. When her children were growing up, Betty canned fruits, vegetables and meat. She worked at the Lancaster Nursing Home and Loudspeaker Component Corporation for many years. Betty played the piano by ear, the last time 3 weeks ago. She was a devoted wife to Bill for 72 years.
Betty will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Bill; son, Terry (Chris) Clauer; daughters: Sherry Losch and Karol (Brian) Ellig; 4 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; a sister, Sharon (Jim) Weisbenner.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a sister, Pearl (Jerry) Bussan; brothers: Chester and Marvin Haas; a son-in-law, Donald Losch.
Private family graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster, with Pastor Pamela Strakeljahn officiating. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is serving the family.
We wish to extend our gratitude to Dr. Robert Stader and the exceptional care we received from the staff at Grant Regional Health Center.
