Bob J. Shell

June 30, 1934 — October 8, 2019

Bobbie Joe "Bob" Shell, age 85, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at home surrounded by his loving family and very special friend, Pastor Pam Strakeljahn. He was born in Searcy, Arkansas on June 30, 1934, to James "Harry" and Leila (Shelton) Shell. Bob was married on February 19, 1982, to his love and dancing partner, Rose Ann (Sweeney) Williams at Rockford, Illinois. They enjoyed dancing the night away, playing cards and dice with the card club and family members. They taught dance to many high school kids and couples. After retirement, Bob and Rose Ann traveled to almost every state. Bob was drafted and served in the United States Army stationed in Germany as a Cryptologist during the Korean Conflict. He worked construction for both Connery and Stevens Construction Companies and did a lot of side jobs. He was a perfectionist and his craftmanship kept him very busy with remodeling and even building some houses. Bob dearly loved his family and friends. He was a teaser and his great grandkids loved to spend time with him. Bob was always up for a few games of euchre or dice games. He was a storyteller and would sit for hours reminiscing about happy events in his life and his family.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Rose Ann; a sister, Rose (Jim) Schweiger; children: Karla (Doug) Wolf; Yvonne (Brent) Burghy; Teri (Kenneth) Miles; Todd (Amy) Williams; Rob (Andrea) Shell; Vicki Shell; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings and spouses: Melbern (Juanita); Lillian; James (Joyce); Jesse (Donna); Leona (Jim) Banta; Margaret (Jim) Gibbs; Jeanne Mae (Bill) Smith; Louise (John) Darmody; grandson, Eric Alan Miles; granddaughter, Cory Lynn (Wolf) Timmerman; great-grandson, Herman Polesky, Jr.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the United Methodist Church, 216 S Monroe St, Lancaster, WI, on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at 11:00am. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Bob J. Shell Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family.
