Denis W. "Deni" David

Denis W. "Deni" David, age 67 of Cassville, WI, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2019 at University of Wisconsin Hospitals & Clinics in Madison. He was born in Dubuque, Iowa on December 26, 1951 the son of Walter and Erma (Tobin) David. Deni graduated from Potosi High School in 1970. He was employed as a supervisor at Chrysler Corporation in Belvidere, Illinois. On September 27, 1980 he was united into marriage to Madonna M. Dietrich, and the couple moved to Redmond, Washington. Deni began his career as a carpenter at Cedar King Lumber Company, and he rose to become the owner. In 2010, Denis and Madonna moved back to Cassville. Deni was instrumental as one of the founding members in the restoration of the Potosi Brewery, and served as president of the board. His knowledge in building was a key to the success of the brewery's restoration. Deni had a great love for animals and enjoyed any outdoor activity. He liked boating in Seattle and on the Mississippi River, fishing, hiking, camping, skiing and reading. Deni also was a member of the men's Monday night league at the Prairie Du Chien Country Club, and the men's Tuesday night league and the Lancaster Country Club. His generosity and great sense of humor will be dearly missed by those who knew him.

Surviving is his loving wife, Madonna; a sister, Diana (Larry) Richard; two brothers: Donald (Kathy) and Stephen (Sherrie Downing) David; four sisters-in-law: Patricia (Robert) Gregory, Nancy (Michael) Wish, Susan Jones and Mary (Allen) Lee; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Walter and Erma, Deni was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law: Charles and Mildred Dietrich; and two brothers-in-law: Steven Dietrich and Alan Jones.

In keeping with his wishes, a private family funeral service will be held. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. noon at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Cassville. Following the visitation, a Celebration of Deni's life will continue at J & J's Sand Bar Restaurant (1110 East Amelia Street, Cassville, Wisconsin). In lieu of plants and flowers, a Denis W. David memorial fund has been established. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory of Cassville is assisting the family.
