Dennis D. Salis

SPARTA – Dennis D. Salis, age 68, of Sparta, formerly of Lancaster, passed away on December 19, 2022, at Mayo Clinic Health System in LaCrosse. He was born on June 3, 1954, in Lancaster, the son of David and Patricia (Anderson) Salis. Dennis went to school in Dubuque, Iowa. He helped his grandfather on the Salis Family Farm and worked as a roofer. Dennis was later employed at Northern Engraving in LaCrosse and retired from Cardinal Glass in June of 2019. On April 2, 1977, Dennis was united in marriage to Julie Ann Robinson. They were married for ten years and were the parents of three children, Rebecca, Jessica, and David. He later met Glenda Lockington and together they had one daughter, Emily. Dennis dearly loved spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying camping, hunting, fishing, and hiking. Dennis also liked all music and he especially enjoyed going to concerts.

Survivors include his children: Rebecca (Travis) Marshall; Jessica (Travis) Jorgenson; David (Amanda) Salis; Emily (Ethan) Salis; 9 grandchildren: Christian, Clayton, Colton, Lucy, Kyler, Alexis, Trinity, Luxlee and Linken; his mother, Patricia Anderson; his siblings: Al Salis; Tim (Nancy) Salis; Tami Anderson; Lynn Meier; other relatives and many friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father, David, a brother, Kevin Anderson, paternal grandparents, Helen and Albert Salis; maternal grandparents, Claire and Mabel Howell; brother-in-law: Daniel “Pork” Meier.

A private family funeral service will be held on Friday, December 23, 2022, at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Family and friends may visit on Friday, December 23, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster.
