Dorothy J. Chadd

Dorothy J. Crawford Chadd, age 93 of Lancaster, WI, passed away on March 27, 2018 at Morningside Assisted Living in Lancaster. Dorothy, nickname D.J. or Brook, was born January 26, 1925 in Lancaster, the daughter of Lloyd and Kathryn (Higginbotham) Brooker.
She graduated from Lancaster High School in 1942. Dorothy earned her B.A. in 1946 from National College of Education, Evanston, Ill., as President of her class. Dorothy went to work in Indianapolis, Indiana, for the public schools as a teacher of Kindergarten and 1st grade. She returned to Lancaster in 1963 and continued her career in teaching until her retirement in 1990. Dorothy was a lifelong member of the Lancaster Congregational Church. Dorothy enjoyed working in her flower gardens, knitting Christmas stockings, and traveling the backroads with her sister. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren and especially enjoyed making arts and crafts with them.

Dorothy is survived by son Jeff Crawford of Gainesville, GA., daughter JoEllen (John) Northouse, Bagley, WI, daughter Linda (David) Looper, Gainesville, GA., and son Mike (Kelly) Chadd, Lancaster, WI. Three grandchildren: Amy Northouse, David and Carly Chadd.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Kathryn Brooker and sister Barbara Brooker.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lancaster Congregational Church with Reverend Mark Dieter officiating. Private family burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is entrusted with her care. In lieu of plants and flowers a Dorothy J. Chadd Memorial Fund has been established.
