Gloria S Curtis

July 19, 1927 — August 23, 2018

LANCASTER – Gloria S. Curtis, age 91, of Lancaster, formerly of Potosi, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018, at Morningside Assisted Living with her loving family by her side. She was born on July 19, 1927, in Hazel Park, MI, the daughter of Philip and Mabel (Udelhofen) Ames. Gloria graduated from Hazel Park High School. In October of 1947, Gloria was united in marriage to Joseph Winkler. Joe preceded her in death in February of 1971. Gloria married Floyd Curtis in December of 1973. Floyd preceded her in death in March of 2011.
Gloria enjoyed music, singing, and playing the organ. She also enjoyed puzzles, word search games, gambling, watching soap operas and tending to her flower garden. Gloria dearly loved spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson. Gloria and Floyd moved to Lancaster in 2000, at which time Gloria became a member of St. Clement Catholic Church.
Survivors include five sons and eight daughters: Susan (Ron) Thole; Eileen Kraemer; Ronald
(Sandy) Curtis; David Curtis; Barbara (Kenneth) Thompson; Janet Line; Michael Winkler; Diane Noble; Barbara (Donald) Biddick; Emily (David) Pitzen; Alice (Mike) Daddario; Daniel (Danielle) Winkler and Vincent Winkler; 36 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; her siblings: Janet Dempsey; Larry (Judy) Ames; Gene (Barb) Ames; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Curtis; two brothers-in-law: Glenn (Marjory "Midge") Curtis and Gerald (Millie) Curtis; a sister-in-law, Nancy Ames; other relatives and many friends.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husbands, Joe and Floyd; her children: Caroline Curtis, Judith Sorenson, Joseph Winkler, Jr., Gregory Curtis, Tom Curtis; grandchildren: Nick Pitzen, Derik Kraemer and Rick Line; a brother, Jerry Ames; and a brother-in-law, Wilbert Curtis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial will be in St. Andrew Cemetery, Tennyson. Family and friends may call on Sunday, August 26, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson where a 2:45 p.m. scripture service will be held. Friends may also call on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Gloria S. Curtis Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Potosi is entrusted with her care.
