Harold E. "Cubby" Bair

Harold E. "Cubby" Bair, age 84, of Bagley, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at Lancaster Health Services. He was born on August 16, 1935, in Freeport, IL, the son of Lester and Eleanor (Grundle) Bair. Harold attended Freeport schools and enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge. He was later employed with Honeywell, ARDEE, and did carpenter and construction work. On August 15, 1964, Harold was united in marriage to Lorraine M. Dascher in Rockford, IL. After their marriage, the couple owned and operated Cubby's Bar in Freeport, IL, from 1972 until 1975. In 1975, Harold worked for Honeywell until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and bowling.
Survivors include his loving wife, Lorraine; his children: Guy Bair, Georgia Taylor, Gerry Lou Bowers and Gwen Bair; stepdaughter, Rita Saxby; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents.
In keeping with Harold's wishes, there will be no services. Burial with military honors will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Freeport, IL, at a later date. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Bloomington is entrusted with his care.
