LANCASTER – Harold G. "Satch" Wetter, age 93, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Lancaster. He was born April 25, 1924, in Little Grant Township, the son of Clarence "Tippy" and Letha (Hore) Wetter. Harold attended Badger Grade School and graduated from Lancaster High School in 1941. He was united into marriage to Dorothy L. Griswold on April 19, 1947, at the Lancaster United Methodist Church. Harold farmed with his father on the Wetter family farm in Little Grant Township, as well as helping many of the neighborhood farmers. Harold also farmed with his brother Donald. When Donald returned from serving his country in Japan, Donald and Velma farmed the Wetter family farm, and Harold and Dorothy purchased the adjoining farm and the brothers farmed together for many years. Harold enjoyed a good game of cards, cribbage, and shooting pool. He loved keeping up with his family and their activities.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Dorothy; their children: Peggy Hammerand; Steve (Joanie Coles); Mike (Kate) Wetter; three grandchildren: Jann (Bill) Muldoon; Dani and Zach Wetter; two great-grandchildren: Katelyn and John Muldoon; two brothers-in-law: Robert Griswold and Donald "Sleepy" Hauth; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by two brothers: Stanley (Aleise) and Donald (Velma) Wetter; three sisters-in-law: Mary Griswold; Patricia "Pat" Hauth; Ada (Maynard "Barney") Sanger.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1234 S Madison St., Lancaster, with Pastor Mark Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Harold G. "Satch" Wetter Memorial Fund has been established.
