Letha L. Eck

Letha L. Eck, age 93, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at Atrium Post Acute Care in Lancaster surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 8, 1924, in Cassville, the daughter of Fred and Myrtle H. (Cornell) Martin. Letha attended Beetown Country School. She married Tom Giesen and to this union, five children were born. On November 21, 1964, Letha was united in marriage to Wilmer "Bill" Eck at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. After their marriage, they resided in Beloit where Letha was employed as a waitress. Later the family returned to Grant County and Letha worked at the Best Western as well as the Lancaster Care Center. She enjoyed camping, attending demolition derbies, and taking the ferry to Balltown. Letha dearly loved family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her five children: Judith Conley, Sarah Dressler, Tom (Penny Sacheli) Giesen; Tim (Sara) Giesen, and Jackie (Dennis) Ellingson; a sister, Evelyn; 20 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and her husbands, Letha was preceded in death by her sons-in-law: Leonard Conley and Russell Dressler; a grandson; her siblings: Dorothy Schneider, Floyd "Pood" Martin, Keith "Pete" Martin, Carl Martin, Hazel Klais, Gertrude Beesecker, Fred Ready and Leonard "Earl" Ready and many members of the Martin family.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 18, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory, 1234 S Madison, Lancaster, with Pastor David Froemming officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Family and friends may call on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
