Margaret I. Vesperman

Margaret I. Vesperman, age 101, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Lancaster. She was born on December 24, 1919 in Potosi, WI. The daughter of Harry J. and Rose (Crapp) Case. In 1923, the family moved to the Charles A. Case farm in South Lancaster. Margaret graduated from Lancaster High School in 1937 and furthered her education at the Vocational School in Milwaukee, WI. She then worked for 4 years at the Arthur Marty Beauty Studio, Milwaukee, WI. On February 23, 1942, she was united in marriage to Donald E. Vesperman. After Donald returned from serving in the United States Navy in December of 1945, he and Margaret settled on the Louis Vesperman family farm in South Lancaster where they raised a family. Margaret was a devoted member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Lancaster for 78 years, where she served in many of the church organizations. She was one of the original members of the Lancaster Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Margaret was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Lancaster Garden Club, Art Club, Homemakers Club, 4-H leader of the Prairie Stars, and Superintendent at the Grant County Fair. Upon their retirement from the farm in 1982, Margaret and Donald moved to the “Howe House” in Lancaster WI. Margaret enjoyed gardening, researching genealogy, and any type of artwork or crafts. Margaret enjoyed teaching calligraphy to Adults and to students at Winskill Elementary School. She dearly loved her family and keeping up with their activities. At the time of Donald’s death on October 11, 1999, they had been married for 57 years.
Surviving is a daughter: Debra Marchant; six sons: Steven (Joyce), Larry (Kristine), Curtis (Helen), Bruce (Judy), Kevin (Dorothy), and Vernon (Debra) Vesperman; 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, one great-great grandson, and many nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her husband Donald, Margaret was preceded in death by a son in law: David Marchant, her siblings: Lloyd (Hazel) Case, Joseph (Marcella) Case, Wendell (Dorothy) Case, Charlotte (Charles "Charlie”) Cook and Myrna (Carson) Wepking.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster, with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial will be in the Boice Prairie Cemetery, South Lancaster Township. Family and friends may call on Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
In lieu of plants and flowers, a Margaret I. Vesperman memorial fund has been established.
The Vesperman family would like to thank the staff at Orchard Manor Nursing Home for all their care and attention given to Margaret these past 8 years.
