Obituary for Mary Ann Carroll

Mary Ann Carroll, daughter of Leo and Clara (Matous) Bublitz, died November 9, 2019. She was a caring woman, mother, sister, aunt, friend, singer, baker, seamstress, and wife. Mary Ann had a deep Catholic faith which was strengthened in high school while cleaning and cooking at the Saint Clement Rectory. Father Felix Hoffman recognized Mary Ann’s love of music and vocal ability. He both encouraged and supported her involvement in vocal lessons and musical performances throughout high school. Her faith and love of music prompted her active involvement in music at Saint Clement where she both organized and sang at mass and other church services and functions.

Mary Ann’s marriage to Roger Carroll on February 14, 1953 was the initial step in fulfilling her life’s dream of raising a large family which included her biological children and children from programs promoting cultural understanding. She was a passionate seamstress, creating clothing for her 10 children and to those in need. Mary Ann enjoyed cooking. The smell of fresh baked breads, noodles, and cookies often greeted family and friends as they entered the Carroll home. She also shared her homemade cookies with customers, employees, and sales representatives of the family business; Carroll’s Plumbing and Heating.

Together, Mary Ann and Roger Carroll raised ten children: Colleen (Scott Travis) Carroll, Joan (Neal) Pulvermacher, Mary Jean (Barry) Bruns, Jerry (Janelle) Carroll, Barb (Dean) Tucker, Tom (Patti) Carroll, Ann Kjos, Nancy (Dan) Sanger, Joe (Annette) Carroll, and Paula (Phil) Sorensen; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann has two sisters and two brothers: Joan (Paul) Carroll, Barb Fuller, Tom Bublitz, and Dan Bublitz.
