PLATTEVILLE, WI – Roger R. Ellis, age 86 of Platteville, WI, formerly of Lancaster, WI, passed away Friday, October 2, 2020 at Southwest Health Center in Platteville. He was born November 11, 1933 the son of Orville and Elizabeth (Wisdom) Ellis. On April 24, 1954, Roger was united in marriage to Mary J. Fiedler at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fennimore. Together they farmed in Lima Union Township. Roger broke horses for riding, pulling wagon, and cattle drives. He also drove a lime and gravel truck for Kowalski Kieler Inc. Roger was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and crocheting.
Survivors include his children: Jane (Delbert) Rupp Sr., James, Jack, and Betty Ellis, Lisa (Kendall) Henkel, Joe (Lori) Ellis, Sandy (Tony) Sedlak; 18 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a sister Gertrude Butson; and many nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Mary, two granddaughters, Sylvia Withrow and Desiree Henkel; his siblings: Hazel, Virgil, Dallas, Dale, Graydon, Bernice, Harold, Marvin, twins Keith and Kenneth, and Ronald.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2020 at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Vernon officiating. Private family burial will be in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. In keeping with Roger's wishes, there will be no public visitation. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Roger R. Ellis Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is serving the family.
