Sheldon H Scott

Sheldon H. Scott, age 90 of Platteville, WI, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Edenbrook of Platteville. He was born on June 29, 1928, in Wiota, WI, the son of Homer J. and Hazel O. (Hanson) Scott. Sheldon graduated from Platteville High School in 1946. On November 16, 1946, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Stephens at First English Church in Platteville. Sheldon worked with his dad at Scott Implement before Homer and he opened Scott’s Spur Service Station. He was a member of the Platteville Volunteer Fire Department, the Elks Lodge No. 1460, the adult leader of Explorer Post #42, and was a member of First English Lutheran Church and presently the Lutheran Church of Peace. Sheldon enjoyed camping and fishing, was a strong supporter of the Platteville community, and especially loved spending time with his family.

Sheldon is survived by his children: Cynthia (Richard) Freidinger, Stephen (Judy) Scott, Shelley (Louis) Cary, J. Michael (Pam) Scott, and Richard Scott; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Donald Drago, and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Sheldon was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy; their daughter, Janie Jo Drago; and a sister, Janice (Albert) Patchin.

Funeral and Fireman’s services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2019 at the Lutheran Church of Peace in Platteville with Reverend Jeffery Pederson officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Platteville. Family and friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2019 at the Lutheran Church Peace in Platteville, and on Monday, March 18, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Sheldon H. Scott Memorial Fund has been established. The Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory of Platteville is entrusted with his services.
