Shirley June Knutson

Shirley June Knutson, age 82, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, August 28, 2017, at Grant Regional Health Center. She was born June 9, 1935, the daughter of LaVerne and Alice (Louthain) VanNatta. On November 7, 1953, she married Edward Knutson at the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lancaster. In her early years, June worked as a waitress at the Rainbow Grill. She then worked retail at Stanton's, Skogmo's, and Hughes' Pharmacy, before being at Lands' End until her retirement. June was also a group leader for Weight Watchers and participated in the Lancaster Community Players. She was an active member of the "Flying Red Hatters" Red Hat Society – regularly taking time to give back to her community. Her greatest pastime was golf. She was active in the women's golf league, serving on the board and participating in events. June could often be found playing a round with her husband, Ed.
Surviving is her devoted husband of 63 years, Edward Knutson; two daughters: Cindy (Bob) Moore, Pomona, CA; and Cammi (Dan) Banach, Brookfield, WI; three grandchildren: Vanessa (Orlando) Saldana, Chino Hills, CA; Allison Banach and Jon Banach, both of Brookfield, WI; a sister, Darlene Carpenter, a brother, Robert VanNatta, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Bud VanNatta.
A celebration of June's life will be at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2017 at Bethlehem Evangelical and Reformed Church (334 S. Madison St., Lancaster, WI), with a time of fellowship after the service. Private family burial will be at a later date. Family and friends may call on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Evangelical and Reformed Church, Lancaster. In lieu of plants and flowers a June Knutson memorial fund has been established with donations being given toward Parkinson's Disease and dementia research. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family.
