Thomas L. Ley

Thomas L. Ley, age 54 of Robbinsdale, MN, formerly of Cassville, WI, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 1, 2019 at The Pillars Hospice Home in Oakdale, MN. Tom peacefully stepped into the realm of heavenly glory as his mother, sister, and dear friend Jenny were by his side. He valiantly faced his fight with cancer for nine months allowing many to partake in the honest reality of his journey.

Tom was born in Janesville, WI, on June 24, 1964. He was the son of Lawrence and Rita Ley. He attended high school at Cassville High School and Holy Name Seminary. He graduated with honors from Minneapolis Community and Technical College with an associate degree in Human Services, and was currently enrolled at Metro State University pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services Administration. Previous work history includes the position of UM/UR intake coordinator at PreferredOne in Golden Valley, MN. In Tom’s younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing in the Cassville area. He also enjoyed bowling and volunteering with friends. Tom was an open soul who loved people and was surrounded by people who loved him…a priceless combination. Special thanks to his dear friends Jenny and Kevin who compassionately and unconditionally demonstrated the love of Christ to Tom.
His family and friends are forever grateful.

Tom is survived by his mother, Rita Ley of Cassville; sister, Amy Ley of Menomonee Falls, WI; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence N. Ley, in 1997.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Cassville, with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial will be in the Cassville Cemetery. Friends and family may call on Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Following the service, a celebration of Tom’s Life will be held from 12:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the J&J Sandbar in Cassville. The Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Cassville is assisting the family.
