Cody, WY

CODY, WY - Alexander P. Gisoldi, age 69, passed away after an extended illness on June 20,2025.

Alex was born in Hancock, NY in 1955 and graduated from Hancock Central High School in 1973. He enlisted in the US Army as a military policeman and served three years receiving an honorable discharge. He then earned a bachelor’s degree from Mesa State College in Grand Junction, CO and was commissioned into the US Air Force as a Second Lieutenant. He initially served as a Missile Launch Officer for nuclear Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM), but after 4 years, he transitioned to Security Police for the remainder of his career. He commanded units across the US and during his deployment to Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He retired from his miliary service as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1997 with over 20 years of service. Alex was very proud of his military service and focused on mentoring the younger generation on the importance of education and patriot duty. He set the example by earning a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Montana State University, Havre, MT and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from California State University in Sacramento while serving in the military.

After his military career, Alex worked as a college advisor for military personnel in Stuttgart, Germany, a housing inspector in Cheyenne WY, and a Security Contractor for a private security company. In 2005, he moved to Cody, WY, after accepting a job as the Park County Homeland Security Director. He was joined in Cody by his wife in 2006 after her retirement from the military. He often said ‘we’ve lived all over the world; we chose to live in Cody.’ Alex was an influential man, loving father, and husband of 36 years. He fell in love with the Rocky Mountains when he made his way out west during the 1970s. He loved to hunt and fish and shared this passion with his two sons, Anthony & Danny. Hunting stories were always a fun topic with the family and Alex loved to share his adventures and jokes with his two boys. Alex had many friends and family that adored him throughout his life. He enjoyed hosting parties at his house and could make anyone smile with his genuine charisma and charm. He and his wife, Jane, created many memorable moments traveling throughout the country and world during their military careers before settling in Cody. He will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Vesperman; sons Anthony Gisoldi and Daniel (Brittany) Gisoldi; granddaughters Ashley, Kayla, Morgan, Katie, and Allie; 2 great grandchildren Inara and Weston; sister Constance (Roger Schlie) Clouston; brother Joseph (Carol) Gisoldi; and many nieces and nephews.
