Allan M. Burr

September 23, 1954 — May 11, 2025

Lancaster

Allan M. Burr, age 70, of Platteville, Wisconsin, formerly of Lancaster, Wisconsin, passed away on May 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. He was born on September 23, 1954, the son of Larry and Marcia (Houghton) Burr. Allan graduated from Lancaster High School in 1973 and shortly after attended technical college for Meat Cutting & Butchery. He married Pamela J. Staub on January 25, 1975. They had three children, Kristy, Joshua, and Phillip. Allan and Pam operated the A&W in Lancaster, WI. Allan then took a position with A&W Corporate in Appleton, WI. Later returning to Lancaster, Allan & Pam operated the A&W, partnering with Allan’s parents and eventually assumed ownership, serving as pillars in the community. In 1987, Allan expanded his role in the A&W world by serving on the NAWFA (National A&W Franchise Association) board as Executive Director. Sadly, Pamela passed away unexpectedly on February 5, 2002. He later met Tina Shannon (Kneubuehl), whom he married on July 4, 2003. Both Tina and her daughter Brooke Shannon were warmly welcomed into the Burr family. Allan loved helping and counseling others by making time for anyone who wanted a friendly ear or piece of advice. He was an exemplary father and went to great lengths for each of his children and grandchildren. Allan loved traveling, golfing, bowling, fishing, Corvettes and all things Packers. He designed and cared for a beautiful Koi pond in his backyard where family and friends would congregate. Allan eventually retired, serving 27 years as Executive Director and sold the A&W Lancaster business to his son Joshua (third generation Burr owners). Without a doubt, his life was his family, whom he dearly loved.

Allan is survived by his wife, Tina; children: Kristy (Jason) Webster, Joshua (Karin) Burr, Phillip (Christina) Burr, and Brooke Shannon; grandchildren: Abigail, Elliana, Sophia, Madeline, Jackson, Ze’Niyah, Caden, Cecilia, and Benjamin; siblings: Marla (Randy) Mayne and Brian (Kathy) Burr and his mother in-laws, Marilyn Staub and Georgina Kneubuehl. There are many remaining members of the Burr, Staub, and Kneubuehl families that mourn his loss.

Allan is preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Marcia; his father in-law’s: Robert Staub and Christ Kneubuehl; and by his loving wife Pamela.
