Arlene Mary (Krueger) Horsfall, age 80, formerly of the areas of Prairie du Chien and Lancaster, passed away quietly at Harmony Assisted Living in Sun Prairie on December 16, 2008 after a short illness. She was the wife of the late William Horsfall originally from Bloomington, WI. Arlene was born on December 12, 1928 in Dodgeville, the oldest daughter of George and Louise (Cathman) Krueger. She was an A student in her time at the Little Red School in Millville, WI. Arlene married Bill Holpin in 1945 and they would later divorce. They had three sons: James (deceased), Madison, Larry (Sharon) Holpin and Michael (Elaine) Holpin, both of Oregon, WI. She later married William Bill Horsfall of Bloomington on December 10, 1954. To this union, Arlene would have one son, William (Michele) Horsfall, Cedar Falls, IA. She would help raise six children from Bills previous marriage to Dorothy (Sudmeier) Horsfall who had previously passed away. His daughters, Joanne (David, deceased) Kaioula, Donna Horsfall and Joyce (Harold) Taylor, all of Madison and his sons, Roger (deceased) daughter-in-law, Donna Horsfall, Madison, Ed (Judy) Horsfall, Cottage Grove and Leonard (Donna) Horsfall, Norfolk, VA.

Arlene loved to go fishing and enjoyed camping. She loved to cook and clean house for her family. Arlene loved her cat (Beebee) who she would give up to her son, William in Iowa. She also enjoyed singing the oldies, writing songs and poetry. Arlene will be remembered for her apple pie.

Arlene is survived by her sister, Loretta Lenzendorf, Lancaster; two of her three sons, five of her six step-childrenand her youngest son to her second marriage. She is also survived by nine natural grandchildren, 17 step-grandchildren and many great-grandchildren from both marriages; an aunt, Mildred Eckbald, MN and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands; a sister, Beverly Foster; a brother-in-law, Bernard Lenzendorf; her son James Holpin and a step-son, Roger Horsfall.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2008 at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Seipp officiating. Burial was held in St. Clement Cemetery. Visitation was held from 10:00 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church. Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster served the family.
