Barbara P. Axtell

Barbara P. Axtell, age 84, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 25, 2021, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on November 14, 1936, in Lancaster, the daughter of Harvey and Pearl (Bass) Wenzel. Barbara graduated from Lancaster High School. On June 19, 1954, she was united in marriage to William F. Axtell. After their marriage, the couple resided in Lancaster and raised their family. Barbara was a devoted wife and mother and dearly loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an excellent baker and looked forward to the family dinners on Wednesday and Sunday nights. Barbara enjoyed flowers, playing cards and her pets.
Survivors include her children: Brenda Taylor, Bart Axtell and Lori O'Neil; grandchildren: Jason and Michael Taylor, Nicole Yaun, Logan O'Neil and Brittany Wallace; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; a brother, Richard (Judy) Wenzel; in-laws: Raymond, Sherry and Sally Axtell; a yellow lab, Abby.
In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, William, Barbara was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Larry "Beagle" O'Neil; one brother and three sisters.
Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is entrusted with her care.
