Brenda K. Brackett, age 61, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 14, 1963, in Lancaster, the daughter of Melvin and Margaret (Burns) Kaufman. Brenda graduated from Lancaster High School in 1982. On June 20, 1986, she was united in marriage to David Brackett at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. Brenda was employed at Dr. Jim Sherry’s Office as an optician since she was sixteen. Brenda continued her employment throughout the transitions of Davis Duehr Dean and currently, SW Health. She spent her life helping people see the world more clearly, both through her work and the warmth and clarity of her presence. Brenda enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping. More than anything, she dearly loved being a grandmother. Her kindness was effortless, and her smile was genuine, and her conversations were warm and engaging. Brenda will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her loving husband of 38 years, David; their daughters: Brianne (Zach) Fowler and Chelsie (Trevor) Reuter; three grandchildren: Graham and Aubrey Fowler and Pear Reuter; her parents, Melvin and Margaret Kaufman; her mother-in-law, Alice “Joanie” Brackett; her siblings: Randy (Sue Splinter) Kaufman and Tammy (Steve) Brogley; members of the Brackett family, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Brenda was preceded in death by her father-in-law, William Brackett.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Fr. Mark Miller officiating. Private family burial will be in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is entrusted with her services.
The family would like to thank Agrace Hospice for their care and compassion that was extended to Brenda and her family.
