POTOSI - Carrol Laho, lifelong resident of Bensenville, Illinois, recently of Potosi, Wisconsin, passed away on March 14, 2024. Carrol is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Ross Laho; her adoring children, Kevin Cook, Jenny (Jeff) Rowe, Nicholas Laho, Patrick (Slywia) Laho, Aaron (Angela) Laho, and Rebecca (Jason) Laho; her beloved grandchildren, Ethan Rowe, Hailey Rowe, Cody Laho, Abigail Laho, Noah Broeski, and Olivia Broeski; her sister, Lorraine (Dave) Boylan, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reinhart and Phyllis Miller and her brother, Reinhart Miller Jr.
Carrol was born to Reinhart and Phyllis Miller on September 13, 1955. She was raised in Bensenville, Illinois, and a graduate of Fenton High School. She married Ross Laho on November 15, 1987, blending their families and having two more children of their own. They continued to reside in Bensenville until 2016 when they built their new home in Potosi, Wisconsin, on a beautiful bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. Carrol filled their new home with details of love in every room, from the carefully chosen light fixtures down to her beloved elephant collection. She became a bird watcher and enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the various species of birds that came to call, as she took great care to learn which ones were visiting. Which, of course, then lead Carrol to come to have a collection of bird figurines. Carrol was a loving wife and mother, showing her love for her husband and children through the meals she cooked, the weekly phone calls made to her children without fail, her thoughtful cards and gifts, and her quiet, constant support. She was a loving grandma who spent hours outside with the grandkids in the pool when they were small (despite her fear of the water!) and provided unwavering support for their adult endeavors. She never met a pair of sandals or purse that she didn’t like and may also have had quite the collection of these items. She showed love in everything she did, in ways big and small; quiet ways that most people take for granted.
Though we are grateful that she is at peace, there is no replacing what we have lost. Carrol’s quiet nature, easy smile and generous, loving heart will forever be missed. We will see and remember you in the elephants and the birds, until we meet again.
Family and friends are welcome to attend graveside services for Carrol, which will be held at Mount Emblem Cemetery, 520 East Grand Avenue, Elmhurst, Illinois, (Section B, lot 7) on March 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
