Charles was born in Petersburg, Iowa on June 9, 1930, the son of George and Mary Ann (Meis) Loeffelholz. On December 29, 1951 he married Darlene Lynch at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Luxemburg, Iowa. They enjoyed 67 wonderful years together.
Charles served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a Corporal. After serving his country, Charles and Darlene farmed in the Potosi area while Charles worked at the Potosi Lumberyard. After retiring from farming, they moved into Potosi where he worked for multiple construction companies, the last one being Conlon Construction, which he retired from in 1985. Over the course of Charles’ life he built seven homes in Potosi.
Charles loved spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his cat Lucky. He liked traveling and going for rides, especially traveling to Texas where he and Darlene spent several winters. Charles also enjoyed giving advice on construction projects (based on his decades of experience), especially when helping family members.
