Charlotte L. Key

February 9, 1955 — January 27, 2023

LANCASTER – Charloette L. (Zantow) Key, age 67, of Lancaster, Wisconsin passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023 at Lancaster Health Services in Lancaster. She was born February 9, 1955, to Diehl and Joan (Knox) Zantow in Janesville, Wisconsin. Char married Patrick A. “Mouse” Key on February 25, 1992. She was a former employee of Leader Longterm Care Nursing Home in Madison for many years. Char and her husband Patrick “Mouse” relocated to Lancaster, where Char was employed at Boscobel Hospital. She was a beautiful soul! Her greatest joys were her family and friends. Char loved life to the fullest and gave joy to all who knew her. An avid Packer fan, she loved watching sports with the love of her life, Mouse. She was a hard worker and devoted mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. She loved animals and there was always one in her house or one she was willing to babysit. Char also loved to dress up and go out dining with friends. We all knew she would order her favorite food, shrimp! She was always quick to lend a hand to anyone who needed one. She would never flinch in offering her help. Her many nieces and nephews remember her fondly for her kindness and love. We will always remember her laughter and smile.

Char is survived by her husband, Patrick A. Key, Lancaster; her son, Nickolas A. Key, Waunakee; her mother, Joan Zantow, Janesville; a brother, David Zantow, Janesville; a sister, Mary (Paul) Harding, Madison; brother-in-laws: David (Eydie) Walther, Verona, Dennis (Cathy) Key, Stitzer, Mark Key, Waunakee; sister-in-law, Rhonda (Russell) Raeder, Lancaster; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father, Diehl Zantow; mother-in-law, Mary Key; and sister-in-law, Rose Key.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time. Donations to ALS foundation in Charolette’s name is greatly appreciated. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family.

A very special thank you to the beautiful and attentive care and attention she received at Lancaster Health Services. The nurses, CNA’s and staff were so dedicated to her comfort and dignity to the end.

A special thank you to Rose Bierman for her unwavering help at the end of Char’s life and to Mary and Don Alcorn for their gracious help to Mouse and Char as she grew ill.
