Cheryl L. "Sherry" Schurman, age 67 of Spooner, formerly of Lancaster, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2019 surrounded by her loving family at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, She was born on August 10, 1952 in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin, the daughter of Floyd and Elda (Dohse) Churchill Sr. Sherry attended school in Dubuque, Iowa. On November 21, 1970 she was united into marriage to Joseph M. "Joey" Schurman, Jr. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. Together they raised their three children, Brian, Michelle and Ashley. Through the years, Sherry enjoyed babysitting for many friends, and was also employed at Schurman Bros. Butter and Cheese. She later owned and operated the L. A. Inn in Lancaster. Later in life the Schurman's moved their family to northern Wisconsin, which was a place she dearly loved. In 2014, Sherry and Joey decided to end their marriage. Life continued for them as they maintained a strong friendship with many family gatherings and connections. Sherry enjoyed visiting with people, music, dancing at the casino, fishing, camping, baking and cooking.
Surviving is her children: Brian Schurman, Michelle (Donn McFarlane) Schurman and Ashley (Brian Overbey) Schurman; a granddaughter Kennedy McFarlane; two brothers: Floyd and Calvin (Claire) Churchill; a sister, Linda Bailey, sisters in law: Mary Jo Churchill, Stephanie (Bill) Hubbard, and Roxi (Monte) Maier; a brother in law Larry Bradley, a very special friend: Gary Jacka , her dog Bentley, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sherry was preceded in death by her former husband Joey on December 29, 2014, her brother Joe Churchill, two sisters: Joyce Churchill and Connie Bradley, her father and mother in law: Joeseph R. and Betty June Schurman Sr. , a sister in law, Mary Churchill and a brother in law, Cliff Bailey.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home and Crematory, Lancaster, with Reverend Pamela Strakeljahn officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Family and friends may call on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
