Cherylinn J. Nix

Cherylinn “Sherry” J. Nix, age 75, of Platteville, passed away peacefully in her home in Platteville on August 7, 2023, with Smokey her faithful dog by her side.  She was born on February 4, 1948, in LaCrosse, the daughter of Theodore and Evelyn “Babe” (Michel) Blask.  Sherry graduated from Cassville High School in 1966.  Soon after, she met Terry Nix.  They were married in May of 1968.  Two sons were born to this union, Jason and Brandon.  Sherry’s years of employment include IBM in Madison and Dairyland Power Co-op in Genoa.  While in Genoa, she met her soulmate, Sam.  She then went to vocational school in LaCrosse to be a medical transcriptionist at Gundersen Clinic.  The job she loved the most was being a guide at Stonefield Museum in Cassville with her sidekick, Cathy Nix. 

Some of Sherry’s many passions include baking and sewing with her granddaughters, Hattie and Harlow, spending many intense hours on her genealogy, building doll houses of many themes and filling them with handmade intricate miniatures to bring them to life, gardening, and her many fun-filled trips with Rose Sweeney and Mary Welch to find yet “ANOTHER” unknown species of hosta. Sherry enjoyed spending time with her sons and granddaughters.  They made her so happy.  She often said, “Laugh as much as you breathe and love as long as you live!”

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Evelyn; two brothers: Roger and Ronnie, and her soulmate, Sam.

Sherry will be greatly missed by her sons: Jason (Darcy) and Brandon (Emily); three granddaughters: Dani, Harlow and Hattie; her sister-in-law, Sharon Blask; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Cassville Cemetery, Highway 81 East of Cassville.  Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family.
