Christine M. Russell

Christine M. Russell, age 71, of Cassville, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Dubuque Specialty Care in Dubuque, IA.  She was born on October 23, 1951, to Charles and Jacquelyn (Cathers) Russell in Roswell, New Mexico the second of nine Army Air Force brats. Christine graduated from Cassville High School in 1969 and was employed with Flexsteel until she was blessed with the first of her two sons from the marriage to Larry Yager. Being a traditional wife was not in the cards for her independent lifestyle. Returning to the workplace now meant running her own business, which she did while being employed at Rapid Die in Cassville until accepting a position at Alliant Energy.  Christine retired from Alliant Energy in 2013.  She was a private pilot, member of EAA, and enjoyed flying and spending time with family and friends, especially in Oshkosh at the Experimental Aircraft Association annual event as well as Sunday family dinners.  Christine had a love for all animals, whether it be horses, raccoons, skunks, owls, or her beloved dog, Puppet.  She was a gun enthusiast, enjoyed spending time on the river, fishing, and motorcycles. 

Survivors include her son, Jeremy (Lynn) Yager, their daughter Ayva; three grandsons: Hunter, William, and Brody; her siblings: Catherine Ann Russell, Sheila (Rod) Breuer, Donnie (Kathy) Russell, Theresa (Jerry) Reynolds, Pat “Boney” (Karen) Russell, Katie (Joe) Udelhofen; a sister-in-law, Jane Russell; special nieces, Tricia and Erica and cousin, Ann; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Christine was preceded in death by a son, Eric, her life partner, Ken “Grub” Nehls, and her siblings: Charlie and Bill Russell.

Private family grave side services will be held at Burton Cemetery in Burton, WI.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at J&J’s Sandbar in Cassville.  Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Cassville is assisting the family.
