David F. Richardson

David F. Richardson, age 75, of Potosi, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at MercyOne in Dubuque, IA, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on August 4, 1948, in Lancaster, the son of Edmond and Vera (Kittoe) Richardson.  David graduated from Potosi High School in 1966.  On June 11, 1966, he was united in marriage to Mary Dailey in Dubuque, IA.   After their marriage, David worked as a farm hand for area farmers as well as AY McDonald for a short time.   David was later employed with Dubuque Stamp & Manufacturing as a Press Operator, retiring after 40 years of employment.  He and Mary enjoyed country line dancing and they taught lessons in Cassville in the early 1990’s.  David also enjoyed camping with family and deer hunting.  He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his children: Lori Wagar, Michelle Richardson, Michelyn (Todd) Clanton, and David Richardson, Jr.; eight grandchildren; one step-grandchild; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Wendy Shaben; other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife, Mary in 2014; sons-in-law, Jim Wagar and Gary Krantz; a granddaughter, Sandra Krantz; his siblings: Bill Richardson, Betty Lou in infancy, and Robert Richardson.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Potosi.  Burial will be at a later date in Van Buren Cemetery, Potosi.  Family and friends may visit on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.  In lieu of plants and flowers, a David F. Richardson Memorial Fund has been established.
