BLOOMINGTON – Dawin F. Simon, age 78, of Bloomington, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Grant Regional Health Center, in Lancaster, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 19, 1945, the son of Francis and Fannie (Seippel) Simon. Dawin graduated from Bloomington High School in 1964. He farmed with his parents on their farm in rural Bloomington. On September 3, 1966, he was united in marriage to Beverly L. Crapp at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Potosi. Together they farmed with Dawin’s parents. In 1971, they moved to Rockville and farmed. In 1975, Dwain and Bev moved to Beetown Township, and continued to farm, raising pigs and milking cows. They moved to Tampa, Florida, in 1986, where Dwain managed an L P Gas company. Dawin and Bev returned to the area in 1993, and both became employed with Skyline Homes in Lancaster, retiring in 2006. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, boating and fishing. Dawin especially loved spending time fishing with his granddaughter, Eleanor. He also enjoyed his morning card game of Hearts, with his friends at Yesterday’s in Beetown. Dawin’s motto was: “If it’s not broke, he couldn’t fix it”.
Surviving is his loving wife of 57 years: Bev; three children: John (Michelle), Eugene (Colleen) Simon, and Brenda (Kevin) Reidl; five grandchildren: Cody, Dylan, Trevor, Nicholas, and Eleanor.
Dawin was preceded in death by his parents: Francis and Fannie; and his sister: Karen Simon.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster, with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Private family burial will be at a later date. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Following the funeral, a funeral dinner in memory of Dawin, will be held at the Beetown Community Hall, Beetown, Wisconsin. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family.
