Donald E. Williams, age 86 of Lancaster, WI, died on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at home in Lancaster of natural causes, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 8, 1933, in DeSoto, WI, the son of John and Edna (Wolfe) Williams. He graduated from Cassville High School in 1952. On February 2, 1960, Don was united in marriage to Virginia A. Wiest at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. Together the couple farmed in the Cassville and Fennimore areas. In 1972, they moved to South Lancaster Township, where they farmed for many years. In 1990, they moved to Lancaster. Virginia passed on February 19, 2009. On April 13, 2012, Don and Bernadette (Loeffelholz - Abing) were united in marriage at St. Clement Catholic Church. He enjoyed reading, driving the rural roads of Grant County, and visiting with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Bernadette of Lancaster; three children: Laura Williams of Madison, Mike (Sarah) Williams of Stitzer, and Tina (Mark) Lorenz of Janesville; four grandchildren: Wesley and Jordan Williams, Mitchell and Ellie Lorenz; sisters-in-law Delores (Kenneth) Williams of Cassville, Rosemary (Moris) Wiest of Lancaster formerly of Cassville, and Marcia Wiest of Cassville; brothers-in-laws: Dennis (Peggy) Wiest, and Gary (Julie Dean) Wiest, all of Cassville. He is also survived by the Abing family: Denis Abing of Lancaster, Gerard (Roxzanne) Abing of Platteville, Julie (Terry) Meyer of Lancaster, Mark Abing of Spain, Trina (Johnie) Snyder of Lancaster, Stuart (Liz) Abing of Lancaster, Todd Abing of Richland Center, Vera (Robert Lackore) Abing of Madison; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grand-children, and other relatives; and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; his brothers: Carson (Helen) Williams, Kenneth Williams, LeRoy (Leola) Williams; and a sister, Delilah “Sis” Williams; his in-laws: Julius (Lois) Wiest, Morris Wiest, Geraldine (Merlin) Bartels, Bernilda (Paul) Britt, and Marena (Jack) Buschbom; and nephews: Jack Williams and Curt Wiest.

A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Vernon officiating. Burial will be in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be made in Donald’s memory to the St. Clement Catholic School or Grant County Hospice. The Martin Schwartz Funeral Home and Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Grant County Hospice and Home Instead Senior Care for their support and very thoughtful care given during Don’s illness.
