Gerald F. "Fuji" Dressler

October 14, 1943 — December 28, 2018

Gerald F. “Fuji” Dressler, age 75 of Dickeyville, WI, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the Yuma Regional Health Center in Yuma, AZ. He was born October 14, 1943 in Platteville, WI, the son of Donald and Frances (Cardy) Dressler. Gerald graduated from Platteville High School and served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War era. Gerald married Linda Beard on April 27, 1974 at the First Baptist Church in Dubuque, IA. He worked at the St. Regis Paper Company/Georgia Pacific in Dubuque from 1967 until his retirement in 2003. Gerald was a man of many talents and various interests: wood working, showing rabbits, smoking sausage and other foods, and making homemade beer and wine. He was also a regular vender at the Farmer’s Markets in Platteville and Dubuque. Gerald liked being in nature and was known to many as the “Walnut Man of Dickeyville”. He also spent many hours collecting rocks and hunting/trapping. He loved to go camping and was a lifelong fisherman. Gerald also enjoyed spending time at home cooking and baking, gardening, or doing embroidery and quilting. He was a great story teller at gatherings who would bring his stories to life with impersonations for those listening. Gerald always loved playing euchre and winning the next lucky Packer pool.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Linda; children: Laura (John) Lee, Potosi; and Lee (Meghan) Dressler, Marshall, WI; three grandsons: Chase, Kedrick, and Alton; and a sister-in-law, Donna Dressler, Madison, WI.

In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his brothers: Donald H, and John F. Dressler.
