Harlan L. Eggers, age75, of Potosi, passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 30, 2017, after a long battle with cancer.

He was born September 6, 1941, in Rockville, WI to LaVern & Frances Eggers. He married Jane Durni on July 13, 1963. Harlan retired from John Deere Dubuque Works, where he worked 30 years. In addition, he worked part-time in law enforcement as a Grant County Sheriff's Deputy, police officer for Cassville & Potosi Villages and was appointed as Chief of Police for the Village of Tennyson. He also worked for Milprint, Inc. in Lancaster. Harlan was a member of the Potosi Masonic Lodge and served his country in the 32nd Division of the Army National Guard. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting & fishing and was a Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed playing cards and going to the casino. Harlan especially loved spending time with his family & friends and spoiling his grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jane, and his two children: Sheila (Mike) Schwarz, Janesville, WI and Chad (Julie) Eggers, Potosi, WI; nine grandchildren: Nicole Youngblut, Milwaukee, WI, Erica Collins, Boscobel, WI, Brandon (Alyssa), Austin, Carter and Hunter Schwarz, Rachel, (Mike) Edmonds, Randy Reynolds, & Robin (Dale) James; eleven great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father, LaVern in 1992, his sister, Joyce 2003 and his father & mother-in-law, Fran & Gladys (Tootie) Durni in 1980.

Masonic and funeral services were held on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory, 144 N Main, Potosi, with Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial with military honors were accorded in Van Buren Cemetery, Potosi. Family and friends called on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

The family expresses their sincere appreciation for the care Harlan received from the staff at St. Croix Hospice. Thanks also, to the many friends & family who called & visited to make his days brighter.
