Harold R. Sweeney

Harold R. Sweeney Jr., age 88, of Lancaster passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Autumn Embers Senior Living, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He was born July 8, 1936, the son of Harold and Melva (McGee) Sweeney. Harold married Shirley Rech on December 28, 1955. He was employed with Hilldale Dairy and John Deere Dubuque Tractor Works before retiring and starting his custom woodworking business. Harold was a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his daughters: LuAnn (Steve) Hogler, Jill (Allen) Kvitek, and Kelly (Jeff) Clark; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; his sister Juanita Bandekow; his brother Mike (Lola) Sweeney; foreign exchange student Anne (Philippe) Crousle’, Paris, France; his in-laws: Dorothy Eck, Linda Barr, Marcia Mitchell, and Sharon (Steve) Klein; many nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents: Harold Sr. and Melva; his loving wife; Shirley; his beloved daughter: Lori; his sister: Patricia Burkle; his in-laws Henry (Lela) Rech, Charles (Shirley) Rech, Stan Eck, Roger (Marilyn) Rech, Bill Barr, Dan Mitchell, Steve (Sue) Rech, Arlyn Bandekow and Lee Burkle.

The family would like to thank Autumn Embers Senior Living and Unity Hospice for their care.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster, with Rev. Erika Martinez officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery with a luncheon to follow. Family and friends may call on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
