Helen J. Pickel

 Helen J. Pickel, age 88, of Potosi died Thursday, February 26, 2009 at The Finley Hospital in Dubuque. She was born on April 7, 1920, the daughter of Glassmaker. Helen was united in marriage to Arthur W. Pickel, the love of her life, on April 27, 1943 at Peace Lutheran Church in Cuba City. He preceded her in death on January 17, 2007. Together they lived at the same house where he was born and raised for 92 years.

Helen is survived by her three children, Bernice (Darrel) Ellis of Lancaster, Leroy Pickel (friend, Carol Scot), and Arleen (Dennis) Walter both of Potosi; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Adeline Brunton of Platteville; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Art; two sons, Clifford and John; a granddaughter, Jennifer; a daughter-in-law, Gloria;

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2009 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial was held at St. Marys Settlement Cemetery, Town of Cassville. Family and friends were welcomed from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at Martin Funeral Home in Potosi and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers and plants, a Helen J. Pickel memorial fund has been established.
