Helen M. Potter

Lancaster

Helen M. Potter, age 89, of Lancaster formerly of Beetown, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster.  She was born on June 27, 1934, in Potosi, the daughter of LeRoy and Leona (Davis) Purkapile.  Helen married Lyle Potter on May 17, 1949.  They owned and operated several bars and clubs and had a farm in the Mount Hope area.  Helen was well-known and loved by family and friends and will be missed by everyone.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle in 2002; a brother, Leonard Purkapile; a sister, Alice Bush; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Mark Moore; a son, David Potter; and three grandsons: Clint Potter, Jimmy Moore, and Eddie Teasley.

Survivors include a sister, Jeanette Smith, Genoa; four children: Beverly Teasley, Ward, AR, Mike (Karen) Potter, Potosi, Betty Nelson, Cassville, and Trudi (Harry Holt) Cromwell, Redfield, AR; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Grave side services will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024, at 12:00 Noon at Van Buren Cemetery, Potosi, with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating.  Family and friends may call on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until Noon at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Potosi.
