John T. Ames Jr.

LANCASTER – John Tyler Ames Jr., age 86, of Lancaster, Wisconsin, passed away on June 9, 2025, at Lancaster Health Services. He was born on March 17, 1939, in Bloomington, Wisconsin, the son of John T. and Mabel Alta (Tyler) Ames. He was a 1957 Bloomington High School Graduate. On May 23, 1959, he married Joan Schmitz at St. Clement Church in Lancaster. John was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed fishing, camping, car cruises and playing cards.

He is survived by his daughter, Julie Knapp; his sons: Jim, Jerry (Pauline), Joel (Tina), Jeff, and Jon; a sister, Joann Hackerson; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

John is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joan; son-in-law, Terry Knapp; daughters-in-law: Kathy, Linda, and Sandy Ames; sisters: Leone Mayne, Elma Foster, Darlene Adrian, Elgene Richardson, and two infants: Rose and Beverly Ames; and other relatives.

Friends and family may call on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster.
