John Robert Kammerud, age 68, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2020, at his home. He was born on April 5, 1951, in Lancaster, the son of Robert and Glenda (Stott) Kammerud. John graduated from Lancaster High School in 1969. On April 17, 1971, he was united in marriage to Jean A. Bennett. John was employed as a patrolman with North Lancaster Township and later Harrison Township, retiring after more than 35 years of service. He was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church. John enjoyed fishing, gambling, riding his motorcycle and watching the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers. He dearly loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. John also enjoyed his morning coffee clutch.
Survivors include his children: Denise (Brian) Janssen; Dan Kammerud; two very special grandchildren: Braeden Bausch and Kennedy Kammerud, who loved their papa dearly; one brother, Richard (Norma) Kammerud; four brothers-in-law: Don (Michelle) Bennett; David (Jacki) Bennett; Tim (Louise) Bennett; Louie (Rachel) Wilkinson; two sisters-in-law: Barb (Butch) Dresen; Pat (Bill) Miles; Godson and nephew, Brian Kammerud; along with many other nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 40 years, Jean Kammerud on October 30, 2011.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 16, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Vernon officiating. Burial will be in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Sunday, March 15, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church and on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a John R. Kammerud Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is humbly serving the family.
