John T. Brandemuehl

October 30, 1943 — July 14, 2022

John T. Brandemuehl, age 78, of Naples, FL, formerly of Lancaster, WI, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2022, with his family by his side. He was born October 30, 1943, the son of James and Mary (Schwantes) Brandemuehl. John graduated from Lancaster High School in 1960 and enlisted in the United States Navy for four years. On October 30, 1964, John was united in marriage to Sandra C. “Sandy” Jackson. After returning from his navy duties, John was employed with Farmers Telephone Company and farmed with Sandy in Ellenboro Township, rural Lancaster. She preceded him in death on December 1, 2002. He later worked for GTE and Direct Line Communications for several years until his health forced him to retire. John was a member of the Richard Burns American Legion Post #109 and a member of the Wisconsin High School Rodeo Association where he served as their President on the 25th Anniversary and again on the 50th Anniversary. He was also a member of the Richland Center Rodeo Committee. On January 10, 2004, John was united in marriage to Linda M. Cooley. John enjoyed traveling, especially his yearly hunting trips to Montana. He also enjoyed horseback riding, leading trail rides, and cutting a load of wood on the hottest or coldest day of the year.

John is survived by his loving wife Linda, Naples, FL; four children: Sue (Bryan) Minton, Hungerford, TX; Debi (Kep) Webb, Houston, TX; Cindy (Terry) West, Haughton, LA; Tim (Kara) Brandemuehl, Mt Horeb, WI, four step-children, Amy (Joe) Uppena, Platteville, WI, Jason (Wendy) Cooley, Centralia, MO; Chris (Kim) Cooley, Cassville, WI; Tony (friend Kaila Knudson) Cooley, Valley City, ND; mother-in-law, Darlene Kopp, Lancaster, WI; siblings: Larry (Jean) Brandemuehl, Cathy (Steve) McPhail, and Sue (Jeff) Funk, all of Lancaster, WI; a sister-in-law, Linda (Clarence) Saunders, Custer, WI; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife Sandy, John was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Mary, his brother, David, and a nephew, Todd Brandemuehl.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors will be at the Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Thursday July 28, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to7:00 p.m., at the Lancaster United Methodist Church, and on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of the services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, donations may be made to the John Brandemuehl Memorial fund.
