Joseph C. Schwab, age 82, of Lancaster, died on Sunday, November 23, 2008 at the Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born on February 19, 1926 the son of John and Mary (Abing) Schwab. Joe was born and raised in Potosi, WI and attended St. Andrew School in Tennyson and graduated from St. Andrews High School. He served in the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. Joe married Katherine J. Reed on January 22, 1955. He was a truck driver for fifty years and worked for various milk companies. Joe enjoyed country music and playing guitar in various bands. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and NASCAR fan of Dale Earnhart Sr. and Jr. Joe was also a member of the American Legion Post #473 and the Berg Averkamp VFW Post #5276, both of Potosi.

Joe is survived by his wife, Katherine of 53 years; eight children: Joan (Jack) Bausch, Cassville, Joe (Linda) Schwab, Lancaster, Chris Hertrampf, Fort Atkinson, IA, Beth (Joe) Streeter, Fennimore, Patty (Kelly) Livingood, Postville, IA, Bart Schwab, Potosi, Jeanne (Chuck) Steckelberg, Waverly, IA, Tony (Leah) Schwab, Potosi; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and another great-grandson due in February; a sister-in-law, Katherine Schwab, Potosi and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ambrose, Cletus and Alphonse; one sister, Loretta Zettel and three infant children, Perry in 1965, Cynthia in 1966 and Mary Anne in 1968.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Seipp officiating. Burial with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post #473 and the Berg Averkamp VFW Post #5276, both of Potosi was held in St. Andrew Cemetery, Tennyson, WI. Family and friends were welcome on Tuesday from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church and on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Schwartz Funeral Home assisted the family.
