Julie M. Stoney

Julie M. Stoney, age 72 of Belmont, WI, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Edenbrook of Platteville. She was born in Dodgeville, WI, on January 15, 1947 the daughter of Emmett “Speed” and Doris Mae (Nielsen) Rogers. On September 12, 1962, Julie married Walter A. Stoney in Galena, IL, and they were wed for over 50 years when he preceded her in death on September 19, 2013. They had seven children together, and Julie truly enjoyed raising her kids. She also worked as a CNA at various nursing homes in the area. When not hard at work, Julie enjoyed animals and liked to go camping with her husband as much as they could or taking rides in the country.

Julie is survived by six children: Bob (Karla), Jay (Audrey), Roger (Angie), Stan (Darcy), Dawn Stoney, and Angela (Jim) Humes; six grandchildren: Cody (Charlie) Weigel, Cheyenne (Dustin) Lenz, Shelby McVay, David (Molly Bockhop) Stoney, Lucas Stoney, and Jessica Stoney; two great-grandchildren: Lani and Landyn Lenz; four siblings: Sharon Halvorson, Mark (Vicki) Rogers, Bruce Rogers, and Fran Hartwig; brothers and sisters-in-law: Kate (Jim) Flynn; Mary (Grant) Edge; Joyce Daniels; Pat (Ronnie) Fritz; John (Deb) Stoney; Louise Stoney; Gary (Cindy) Stoney; Shirley (Royce) Wehrle; and Sharon Stoney; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Walter, Julie was preceded in death by a son, David; four siblings: Hope Rogers, Eric Rogers, Andrea Pickett, and Nick (Dorothy) Rogers; and five brothers-in-law: Larry Hartwig, Bubby Halvorson, Vic Daniels, Leo and Paul Stoney.

In keeping with Julie’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. A private family graveside service will be held in the St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials in Julie’s honor are preferred. The Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory of Platteville is entrusted with her services.
