L. Eileen Einerson

October 19, 1913 — March 22, 2018

L. Eileen Einerson, age 104, of Platteville, WI, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at her residence in Our House, Platteville. She was born October 19, 1913 in rural Blanchardville, WI, the third child of Martin and Belinda (Swiggum) Einerson. She attended rural elementary school. As a teenager, Eileen experienced a devastating tornado on her parent’s farm and graduated from Blanchardville High School with the class of 1932. A year later she graduated from Platteville Normal School. Eileen began a long teaching career at Prairie Ridge Rural School. From there she taught for ten years at the Einerson Elementary School, the school she has attended as a child. She then returned to what is now UW-Platteville to get a B.S. Degree in Education. She taught four years at Prairie du Sac, WI, and then Monroe, WI. In 1967, she received her Master’s Degree in Education from UW-Platteville. Eileen taught third grade in Apple River and Warren, IL, retiring in 1979. She enjoyed traveling, including attending five world fairs from 1939 to 1974. She was an avid sports fan, listening on the radio and later watching games on television. Some of her favorites were the WI State Boys Basketball tournament, UW-Platteville teams, Wisconsin Badgers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Green Bay Packers. A daily newspaper reader, Eileen kept up with what was happening in the country and the world well past her last birthday. She enjoyed spending time with her family – parents, siblings, nieces and nephews, and cousins, as well as friends.

Eileen is survived by five nephews: Mal Einerson, Middleton, Ron (Delores) Einerson, Neenah, Gary Einerson, Sun Prairie, Dean A. (Barbara) Einerson, Milwaukee, Paul Einerson, Oshkosh; three nieces: Carla (Clark) Buchanan, Markesan, Randee (David) Loss, Hudson, and Margaret (John) Winn, Oshkosh; one niece-in-law, Bich du Einerson, Janesville, 21 grand nieces and nephews, and many great-grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and sisters: Herberts, Martin, Dean, Joan (Erica) Hirsbrunner, and Clairys Stark; three sister-in-laws: Rose Einerson, Mary Jo Einerson, and Mary Lou Einerson; two brothers-in-law: Gus Stark and Oswald Hirsbrunner; two nephews: John (Ellen) Einerson and David Einerson; and two niece-in-laws: Vi Einerson, and Sandi Einerson.
