PRESTON - Leola A. Skaife, 88, of Preston, WI, peacefully passed away on April 4, 2024, at 12:45 pm, at Lancaster Care Center. She was born on August 25, 1935, in Cassville, WI, to the late Roy (Tommy) Schaal and Alice (Greenwood) Schaal. Leola enjoyed various activities throughout her life, including bowling, jewelry-making, and ceramics. She was the proud owner of Alice's House of Ceramics. Additionally, Leola pursued a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), having attended SWVTI in Fennimore. She dedicated 26.5 years of service to the Good Samaritan Center in Fennimore. She was married to Richard Skaife on August 26, 1950. Together they raised seven children: Nancy, Patsy, Trudy (deceased), Gary, Elaine, Mike, and Brian.
Leola is survived by her loving brother Bruce Schaal. Her brother Ronald Schaal preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard K. Skaife,
Her legacy extends through her 22 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren (possibly more). Leola was also preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Joseph Koppen and Glen McKinney, as well as great-grandchildren: Jasmine, Jaxon Skaife, and Elliot Koppen.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral services, and she will not be buried. Leola generously donated her body to science for further studies. A gathering in her memory will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, from 9:00a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Martin Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster, WI, followed by a lunch at the Meeting place (the old VFW) in Lancaster, WI.
Leola's life was characterized by love, generosity, and dedication to her family and community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
