Leroy A. Hoffman

LeRoy A. Hoffman, age 90, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 22, 2019. He was born on January 1, 1929, the son of Melvin and Agnes (Garske) Hoffman. LeRoy graduated from Tomah High School. While in high school, he ordered books and studied electronics in his spare time and assembled from scratch the family's first television set. LeRoy served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1950 until 1954, stationed in England. On June 10, 1953, he was united in marriage to Mary Inez Tiber at St. James Catholic Church in Camp Douglas, WI. After their marriage, the couple moved to New Mexico where LeRoy completed his military service. In 1954, the couple moved to Lancaster and LeRoy was employed as a television repairman for Murray Electric for 45 years, until his retirement. LeRoy was well-known and appreciated as being the "Best T.V Repairman in Grant County." He was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading to his grandchildren.
Survivors include his children: Linda (Bernard) Adrian; Mark (Julie Burkhalter) Hoffman; David (Melody) Hoffman; James (Terre) Hoffman; Colleen (David) Landon; Angela (Donald) Pagenkopf; Kurt Hoffman; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; his siblings: Bernard Hoffman; Jeanette Puent; Marian (Kenneth) Belcher; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, LeRoy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary whom he cared for independently in her final years; an infant daughter, Debra; a brother, Kenneth (Rosella) Hoffman; brother-in-law, Robert Puent; sister-in-law: Ann Hoffman; twin great-granddaughters: Ember Lynn and Esther Jean Brunton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Vernon officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a LeRoy A. Hoffman memorial fund has been established. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is entrusted with his care.
