Mae L. Day

Mae L. Day, age 87, of Lancaster, died on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on May 18, 1920, the daughter of Adam and Julia (Elskamp) Mink. Mae was untied in marriage to Harold H. Day. He preceded her in death in 1990. She enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her family. Maes neighbors were also very special to her, and her family would like to extend their sincere thanks for their care and kindness.

Surviving are her children: Dennis Reich, Jamestown, ND; Jerry Day, Fennimore; Steve (Jill) Day, Cuba City; Mary Day, Windsor, CO; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Leeser, Lancaster; sister-in-law, Mary Mink, Prairie du Chien; many nieces and nephews.

Mae was preceded in death by six brothers: Virgil, Leland Gus, Keith, Claude, Herbert, and Donald.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 15, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends called on Monday, January 14, 2008, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Mae L. Day memorial fund has been established.
