Marcella B. Langkamp

Marcella B. “Sally” Langkamp, age 102, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on February 5, 1923, in Lancaster, the daughter of Ernest and Hazel Schildgen. Sally grew up on a farm outside of Lancaster. Some of her fondest memories were going hunting with her father who instilled the love of the outdoors in her. Sally attended Slabtown Country School and St. Clement Catholic School. She graduated from Lancaster High School and had a part-time job at the Grant County Courthouse sealing envelopes. During World War II, Sally and some of her friends began employment at Badger Ordinance Works, which became the world’s largest ammunition plant at that time. When the war was over, Sally began working a few different desk jobs before working for Tod Gillilan, retiring after 30 years of employment. After the war, she met Elmer Fenzau and they were married. They loved to go hunting together and spend time at their cabin in Sprague, WI. He preceded her in death in 1971. Sally would continue to go to the cabin in Sprague and hunt after Elmer’s passing. It was there that she found love again. On November 12, 1980, Sally was united in marriage to Joseph Langkamp at St. Clement Catholic Church in an evening wedding. Sally was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church and counted money every Monday for several years. She continued her love for the outdoors and bow hunting throughout most of her life. Sally was an avid Milwaukee Brewer’s fan and loved her time at the cabin as well as going for countryside rides looking for deer. Her love for her family and those she cared for was strong as was her faith. Sally will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her loving husband of nearly 45 years, Joe; stepson, Tim (Nancy) Langkamp; step-grandchildren: Angie (Kyle) Spensley, Bryan (Emily) Langkamp, and Jase Langkamp; four step-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents and her first husband, Elmer, Sally was preceded in death by nieces, Diane Heinrichs and Carol Schildgen; nephews, Warren and Leonard Schildgen; her siblings: Gerald (Florence) Schildgen, Joseph (Druscilla "Fuzzy") Schildgen and Marie (Larry) Drew.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father Mark Miller officiating. Burial will be in St. Clement Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Marcella B. Langkamp Memorial Fund has been established.
