Margaret E. Schauff

Margaret E. Schauff, age 95 of Cassville, passed away Monday, June 1, 2020, at Morningside Assisted Living in Lancaster. She was born October 5, 1924, the daughter of Nicholas and Cecelia (Mergen) Gotto. On June 5, 1943, Margaret married Clarence J. "Sunny" Schauff at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington. After Sunny's return from World War II, together they farmed on the Schauff family farm in Cassville Township. She enjoyed raising her family. Margaret was a devoted member of St. Charles Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards and going to the casino. Margaret dearly loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her children: Dennis (Marcia) Schauff; Linda (Dick) Hindman; Douglas (Beth) Schauff; Joseph (Peg) Schauff; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Sunny, Margaret was preceded in death by two brothers: Clarence (Margaret) and Francis (Naomi) Gotto.
Due to the current remodeling at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Settlement Cemetery, Cassville. Family and friends in attendance are asked to observe social distancing. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Cassville is serving the family.
