Margaret L. Gotto

BLOOMINGTON – Margaret L. Gotto, age 99, of Bloomington, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Atrium Post Acute Care in Lancaster. She was born on November 15, 1918, the daughter of Frederick and Mary (Devlin) Brendemuehl. Margaret attended Reynolds Country School and graduated from Bloomington High School in 1936. On November 18, 1936, she was united in marriage to Clarence P. Gotto at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Bloomington area for many years. Margaret enjoyed reading, embroidering, playing cards, especially poker, and picking wild flowers. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, its CCW, and Little Grant Stitch and Chat.
Survivors include her children: Patricia Martin, Sharon (Roger) Lestina, Rachel Pink, Fred (Beverly) Gotto, Nick (Sue) Gotto; 21 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Susan Bausch; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Clarence, Margaret was preceded in death by two children, Maureen Gotto and Jim Gotto; a granddaughter, Dianne Pink; a grandson, Joshua Gotto; sons-in-law, Richard Martin and Paul Pink; her twin sister, Marcella Johll; her siblings: Mary Yager, Oscar, Walter, John, and Albert Brendemuehl.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father Bart Timmerman and Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bloomington. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Bloomington is serving the family.
